Researchers found that over half of the subjects given a daily dose of 1 to 1.5 grams of Muira Puama extract over a two week period experienced positive benefits in their libido. This herb has been gaining in popularity in the United States, where herbalists and health care practitioners are using it for libido, menstrual cramps and PMS, nerve pain, and for central nervous system disorders. The active ingredients in Muira Puama are a group of terpenes, phenols and resins which are not very soluble in water and which are not digested in the stomach.
